The kids are all right
This is a comedy- drama directed by Lisa Cholodenko, which tells the life of a special family. It’s a lesbian couple, with two teens, Joni and Laser (they were artificially inseminated, each one with one of their mothers, but with the same sperm donor). When Laser is fifteen years old, he starts to ask himself what would be his father like. Finally, he and Joni decide that they want to be in contact with their “father”, so they phone the sperm bank and get his name and his phone number. Later on, they tell this to their mothers and they decide that they are going to organize a lunch with him. They have lunch together and they get on very well. They get on so well that one of the mothers, Jules, starts to work with him, helping him with the garden he has. Everyting seems to be perfect, but everything changes when Jules kisses the sperm donor one afternoon.
This film was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy and Annette Bening( Nic, one of the mothers) was awarded the Golden Globe award for Best Actress.
It was filmed in California , and in my opinion, it is a very beautiful landscape as we can see in this picture.
In this film you can see clearly the importance of family and the loneliness is very well expressed, that is why I like it. To conclude, I recommend this film to everybody, because although the argument is strange, it is really emotional.
