Mobiles phones in Estonia

Mobile phones are something that have been developing along side computers very fast during the last decade. When I said in the last blog that there are many people and families who own a computer, then there are even more people who have mobile phones.

I remember back in 2000 or 2002 seeing a mobile phone was different, a lot. Playing Snake or Space Invaders for the first time on a Nokia 5110 or 3310 was pretty mind-blowing. Of course before that mobile phones were even more different, less features but bigger in size and so on.

What a modern mobile phone resembles is basically a mini computer that has tons of features. GPS for guiding oneself to or through something, cameras for taking photos and videos, WiFi and other options for using the internet whatever someone needs it for. The games have developed since Snake a lot as well and people, of course, play them. Last but not least, a cell phone still can be used for calling and texting your friends, relatives or anyone, anywhere.

Even though if not everyone owns a fancy phone with a touch-screen that can do all that mentioned before and even more, I guess people in Estonia still use their cells mostly for contacting people by a regular call, sms, e-mail or other means. Everything else seems like a bonus that some people need and use more than others. And it's a growing trend.

Now..I think it seems that today, having a mobile phone is pretty much necessary but I like how when I was younger, I didn't need it or when I had one, I didn't use it that much. So what I mean is that the world today has gotten so into to all the technology that it would be pretty hard to get along without a mobile phone. That's because when these are the means that people mostly and almost always use to contact one another, then getting through to them without them would be slightly if not quite or very complicated. When was the last time you asked your friends to go out by going to their house? Or how often do you do that overall? I know that at least for me it's been quite a while and something that I don't do as much as I used to. But still, living without a computer or a mobile phone for that matter, is doable. :)

Computers (Estonia)

I'm going to start of by saying better late than never. Meaning that even though it's summer now I decided to finish what was kind of left undone.

So, computers in Estonia. I myself own one, my deskmate(s) and I'm pretty sure there's a computer in almost everyone's home who goes to our school. And the ones who don't have it at home, still have access to computers and internet thanks to schools, internet cafes and other internet spots.

I myself use a computer and internet almost every day, at least when I'm at home. Mostly when behind my computer at home I listen to music, read different forums, news places, blogs, watch videos, films and TV series. Of course go to social media sites and chat by msn. Also for doing homework, other school or whatever-related things. Sometimes for playing games.

When I'm home my computer is usually on as well. And when it's usually on, I usually use it too. Less during summer, more during winter because there's less to do away from home during winter. So what it means, is that I don't have specific times I use the computer. Nor do I spend a specific amount behind it every day, week or month.

So this is how I'm related to computers and so on, but I'm sure it's different for everyone.

TV programmes - Supernatural

It was a time where I was looking for a new show to pick up and start watching. What I ended up choosing was Supernatural. I had looked for a sci-fi, fantasy something-something with some good laughs in it too and wow did I pick the right show.

The first episode was a bit different than I had anticipated. I didn't expect two badass brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester to be fighting a ghost in a horror show. But the more I watched it, the more I grew into it and started loving it. Even furthermore you'd soon discover that it isn't a simple-minded ghost and spirit slaying series but a complicated story. A story where two brothers have been raised by their father John to be experts on what they're doing - hunting supernatural beings. They are constantly on the road with the awesome '67 Chevrolet Impala because staying in one place is not safe for either them because of the trouble trailing them or for people around for the same reason.

But as I said it isn't just about just killing the supernatural beings. The reason they are on the road by themselves and why they were raised by their father to be one of best hunters, is because their mother was killed by a very powerful demon when they were little children and that's when John, their father, decided to choose this way of life. To hunt down the demon responsible for the deed and anything else that's supernatural and messes around with peoples lives. And storyline goes further into 6 seasons of pretty much everything related to myths, legends and thought-out creatures to even biblical events. This is all is brought to you by episodes full of excitement and thrill. Even more, it's amazing how they have managed to insert humor and jokes which I would say are even better than in sitcoms and other comedy oriented shows.

In the end I consider Supernatural to be one of my favourite TV programmes and I could go on and on why it's so. Here are some clips from different episodes as well.

First video: Death as one of The Four Horsemen from biblical apocalypse
Second: well..no comments :p

Films :)

The kids are all right

This is a comedy- drama directed by Lisa Cholodenko, which tells the life of a special family. It’s a lesbian couple, with two teens, Joni and Laser (they were artificially inseminated, each one with one of their mothers, but with the same sperm donor). When Laser is fifteen years old, he starts to ask himself what would be his father like. Finally, he and Joni decide that they want to be in contact with their “father”, so they phone the sperm bank and get his name and his phone number. Later on, they tell this to their mothers and they decide that they are going to organize a lunch with him. They have lunch together and they get on very well. They get on so well that one of the mothers, Jules, starts to work with him, helping him with the garden he has. Everyting seems to be perfect, but everything changes when Jules kisses the sperm donor one afternoon.

This film was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy and Annette Bening( Nic, one of the mothers) was awarded the Golden Globe award for Best Actress.
It was filmed in California, and in my opinion, it is a very beautiful landscape as we can see in this picture.

In this film you can see clearly the importance of family and the loneliness is very well expressed, that is why I like it. To conclude, I recommend this film to everybody, because although the argument is strange, it is really emotional.

Se7en

Hey, since we're supposed to write about films I decided to give a little insight on the last one I saw which was actually yesterday.

So, as you can see from the picture I'm going to talk about Se7en or alternatively Seven (released in 1995). Directed by David Fincher who by the way was also the director of Fight Club, The Social Network and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button which Elif discussed a few days ago. What I mean is that the guy obviously knows quite a bit about directing and I would suggest seeing his films. Especially Fight Club because it's among my more memorable films.

But on the topic of Se7en. It was written by Andrew Kevin Walker and stars stars such as Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey. Also Gwyneth Paltrow and R. Lee Ermey who starred in the 1989 Full Metal Jacket.

Now..the film itself is a crime flick with some gorey and horrific pictures including strange killings. It all begins with a dark crime scene in a nasty apartment where a "chubby" fella is found dead. On the scene two detectives meet...Detective Somerset who is looking to retire in a week and detective Mills who is a young gun and specifically wanted to transfer to that location. Although they never seem to agree on anything they still go forward with the investigation. When Somerset starts suspecting that there might be more going on than a dead fat guy, he wants out of the investigation, especially when it turns out there is a serial killer on the loose who seems to leave no marks behind and is anything but a simple-minded killer. Also the murders are somehow related to the seven deadly sins. Whether Somerset goes to the end with the investigation, why the seven deadly sins and how does it all end, is up for to you to find out if you watch the film or read a full review.

In conclusion I would like to say that I enjoyed it, quite a lot actually and I'm not even a big fan of the genre. Has great actors, a well thought-out story which didn't make me feel bored during the two hours watching it if nothing else. My suggestion: if you're even a little bit into crime and mystery movies and are not intimidated by horrific murders, see it.

That be it,
Cheerio from up north. :p

FİLMS !

Hi everyone,

This week, We talk about movies. I watch movies every weekend. I love films. What kind of movies do you like? I like all of them but mostly adventure, comedy and horror films.

BENJAMİN BUTTON

Storyline:
Benjamin is born with the physical appearance of a 70-year-old man, but already able to speak. His father Roger invites neighborhood boys to play with him and orders him to play with children's toys, but Benjamin only obeys to please his father. At five, Benjamin is sent to kindergarten but is quickly withdrawn after he repeatedly falls asleep during child activities.
When Benjamin turns 12, the Button family realizes that he is aging backward. At the age of 18, Benjamin enrolls in a university but having run out of hair dye on the day of registration, is sent home by officials, who think he is a 50-year-old lunatic.
In 1910, Benjamin turns over control of his company to his son, Roscoe, and enrolls at Harvard University, having the appearance of a twenty-year-old. His first year at Harvard is a great success, and he is dominant in American football, notably obtaining revenge against Yale for his earlier unpleasant experience. However, by the time Benjamin reaches his last 2 years, he is a weak sixteen-year-old, unable to play football and barely able to cope with the academic load.
After graduation, Benjamin returns home, only to learn his wife has moved to Italy. He lives with Roscoe, who treats him very sternly, making Benjamin call him "Uncle" in front of his house guests. As the years progress, Benjamin turns from a moody teenager into a young child. Eventually Roscoe has a child that later attends kindergarten with Benjamin. After kindergarten, Benjamin slowly begins to lose memory of his earlier life. His memory fades away to the point where he cannot remember anything except his nurse. Then everything fades off to dark.
My views about the film.

MY OPİNİON , this film is a great ! I like Brat pitt. He has played very good in film. One of the good quality films.

Amélie and Amoros Perros

Herkese Merhabaaa! :D

Today, i wanna talk about my favorite movies. I like watching the movies in my free times. Generally, i've not enough free time because of school, courses, lessons and homeworks but sometimes i have free time, thank god! :D

Well, one of my favorite movie is '' Amélie ''

Amélie is a 2001 romantic comedy film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Its original French title is Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain meaning "The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain". It tells the story of a shy waitress, played by Audrey Tautou, who decides to change the lives of those around her for the better, while struggling with her own isolation. The film was an international co-production between companies in France and Germany.

*She is so cute and she is a guardian angel working for the people but she isn't care with herself. And one day she'll find the her true love :)

And the other my favorite movie is '' Ameros Perros '' (Spanish)
'' Paramparça Aşklar ve Köpekler''(Turkish).

Amores perros is a 2000 neorealist Mexican film directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu.
The film is constructed from three distinct stories linked by a car accident that brings the characters briefly together.

The first segment, "Octavio and Susana", stars Gael García Bernal and Vanessa Bauche as the title characters. Susana is Octavio's sister-in-law; however, Octavio is in love with her and doesn't like the way his brother, Ramiro, treats her. Octavio tries to persuade her to run away with him to get from under Ramiro's abuse. Needing to make money so that he and Susana can escape and start a life of their own, Octavio becomes involved in the business of dog fighting. Octavio makes enough money to run away with Susana, but Susana takes the money and leaves with her husband. Octavio continues his dog fighting business until a rival owner shoots his dog Cofi. Octavio stabs the rival owner and finds himself in a car chase with his lifelong friend, Jorge, and the wounded dog. A collision follows; Jorge dies and Octavio is badly injured.

*It was really different and exciting and in my opinion, the story is a tragic love story.

Well, It's a wrap! I wonder your favorite movies, What is your favorite movie/movies? Here we go! :)

That's all from me for today, good night everyoneee!

Estonia. Tuesday. Awesomeness.

What a nice day...

So as I was saying yesterday I didn't have to attend school today. The reason for that is that six of us went to a volleyball competition. It's was regional so only schools from the county that our school also is in attended. We managed to grab third place, also had a shot at first or second. Sadly we lost to a team which if we had won would have gotten us to 1 and 2 place match. But all that aside we were extremely psyched about the day and happy with our result. :) Looking forward to next year and even better performance.

After that we came back to our school, ate a bit and changed opinions about the day in the meanwhile. Carrying on, when going home I "made a friend" who likes to make paper planes and talk rubbish but it gave me quite a chuckle. :D At home I just had a rest, took a little look at what I should get done related to school. Also today Estonian football team tied Serbia 1-1 in the qualification round for the European Championships which was also pretty good news. Right now I've tuned to some Estonian music and enjoying a cup of tea.

That's it, stay chill,
Norman

whole weekend + Monday

I'm afraid a couldn't write before, I've had a very busy weekend.

First of all, on Saturday morning it was an unusual day for me. WHY? The hing is that I usually have dancing lesson at that time, but that day I didn't, because my dancing teacher was organizing a dancing festival called "Oreka". This event is about urban dancing, I mean, hip hop. I really love it, that's why I'm moving all day long hahah. Well, instead of going to dancing class i went shopping, and bought 3 jackets!!!

At noon, i had lunch with my parents and my grandma and then, in the afternoon I met friends about 6:30. We went to a bar and had something, and we stayed the whole afternoon and the evening there. At night, I met my parents and some friends and we had a tasty dinner. WAS I HUNGRY!

On Sunday morning, i wad to wake up at 10 o' clock brcause I was meeting a friend. We were going to watch a dancing competition organised by "Oreka". When we arrived there, we walked in to a theatre and all at once, the music started. That competition was really greaaat!!!

The in the evening, after having lunch with my parents in a restaurant and resting in the sofa( of course), I left home and I went to rehearse my dancing performance with friends. At night I fall asleep quickly. What a busy dancing weekend!!!

Yesterday (Monday), I woke up at 8 and went to school. I stayed there until 3. Then after having lunch I did my Physics homework( which I hate!) and then I went to the music school and played the saxophone with other 3 people.

Today has been a usual day too. I've waked up early, gone to school... blablabla... I don't want to get you bored.

OK that's all. Have good days!!!

By the way, I'm flying to Turkey this Friday, so I wish I'll meet some of you!

Borja.

heeeeello !

I didn't write yesterday.Soorrry!

First of all,I didn't feel like writing anything because of my headache, and
secondly my day was boring.Nothing special happened to me,so I decided to write today
about both days :P

As I've said, yesterday was a boring day,but today has been quite good.I've enjoyed mostly the
afternoon. After beeing speaking for a long time with a friend on the telephone, ( I really enjoy those
conversations) I've done somo of my homework.I've read my favourite magazine and I've seen my favourite
TV programme. But all those things wouldn't be so good if I hadn't my hot chocolate next to me :))

I saw the match of Caja Laboral,I got really nervous!I must say,I didn't believe they won...It was
really a luck. But as Norman has said, that 3-pointer is always the hero!

A pretty good Monday, Estonian edition

Fourth and final quarter has started in school and it started out quite nicely. : )

First things first. Waking up in the morning...it wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be. Although at some point I noticed between the window shades that it was awkwardly white outside (hmm, something's wrong). Rolled the shades up to see that basically there was a snowstorm howling. "Wow, are you kidding me," I was thinking, "is this for real?" And oh yes it was.

For some reason it actually didn't bother me much and I went on to go to school. Day at school itself was easy and pretty fun actually. Everyone was pretty talk-active. On top of that the second English lesson which also was the last was really funny, mostly because of a certain individual ;).

Coming home I went straight to bed for a nap not thinking about studying at all since I don't have to attend school tomorrow but why, I'm not going to talk about it today. After having that nap I ate dinner and went out with some friends. With that my day was pretty much over. Went home, read news and listened to music as usually. I also read that a Spanish basketball team, more specifically from Vitoria-Gasteiz named is Vitoria Caja Laboral had a huge win over another team thanks to an amazing 3-pointer during the buzzer. So massive congrats to you guys over there~! :)

Sleep time now, good night and best wishes,
Norman

ExcitingSundayNot.ee

Heya :]

Sundays...There’s never nothing good about them, in most cases atleast. Last day of the weekend, nothing special going on. But aside from that I guess I can call it a nice and quiet day at home which isn’t that bad. Still listening to music and it’s still about Led Zep but a bit of Pink Floyd too which means that basically I’ve been slacking around the whole day and listening to them.

Although my clocks were showing the right time, I must agree with Ainara that we’re going to have an hour less to sleep and I don’t like it. Ideally I’m going an hour earlier to sleep too but going to bed at 24 or 01 doesn't effect me as much as waking up at 6 rather then 7. At least for now it seems so but will not be able to tell the difference in a week or so. :p

Also thought about doing a bit of studying, you know getting back on track where we left a week ago but couldn't ruin the day with it. Think I might actually look forward to tomorrow at school but I'll probably change my mind in an hour or so..:)

Stay positive ^_________________________________^ ,
Norman

MY SUNDAY.

Hi there,

How is it going? My day has been very familiar, like other ordinary Sundays.
I've got up at twelve, without changing the clock haha.(I don't like the idea of changing it,we
sleep an hour less,it's unfair!) I've had my breakfast with my parents, and we've gone to my village
to meet my grandparents overthere. We  have also met my aunties and cousins, including the younger
ones.I've been all time playing with him,he is never tired of doing things.

After having lunch, all family has gone to have a walk, even though the weather wasn't very nice.We all
love the sights and landscapes of our village. They're wonderful!

My village is very small. This is the church, and the house you can see on the right is our
house.

We've returned to Vitoria earlier than usual because my father had a football match to see here. Then,
my mother and I have gone home.I've seen the TV with her,and then,I've played the piano. While
I was playing it,the blog came to my mind, and I realised that I had to write about today,so here I am.
After posting this,I'll chat and have supper with my parents.

Fortunately,I haven't got the first class tomorrow so I've an hour more to sleep :)

Big hugs!

Ainara

Two in one special. Friday + Saturday~!

Hi, hola, tere, merhaba, 你好

Friday started out as usually...Woke up in the middle of the day, talked to friends, watched a TV show and listened to music. Later in the day I met up with two friends firstly to go and eat because two of us hadn’t eaten anything during the day so we went to McDonald’s. And secondly to go to a birthday which we were on our way to after finishing our meals.

We arrived there a bit late but thankfully or not we weren’t the only ones who didn’t make it on time. The party ended between 3 and 4 in the morning and I had a lot of fun in the time being. But did I go home after that? No..continued the night at another place and went to sleep there around 6am.

Carrying on with Saturday I woke up in the morning (or early noon) and the few of us listened to 80s music and looked at some older and newer photos and some of them were pretty ridiculous : D. Soon caught a bus to finally go home make up for the lack of sleep I’ve actually had for the whole week. So much for a free week to get rested for the last quarter in school..:p

Later on in the evening, as usually at home, I watched a few episodes of a TV show, talked to friends on msn and listened to music. Led Zeppelin to be exact and it seems I will never get tired of the sweet sound of their music. Now here I am less than 24 hours away from Monday and school. Can’t wait... : )

Yours truly,
Norman :]

My Saturday

Hello everyone again!

Today has been a relaxing day for me.
I've got up at eleven, and after having my Saturday's big breakfast I've played the piano.
Today I've had a basketball match,we've won fortunately.Otherwaise,my trainers would be
angry with us...
After the match,I've gone to the swimming pool with my friends, and then,we've had dinner in a friend's house.
We've enjoyed a lot the afternoon together.

Enjoy the rest of the day !

Ainara.

My spanish FRIDAY

Sorry for not writing yesterday, but arrived very late, so I didn't feel like switching on the computer.

As usually, I spent all morning long at school. Then I have lunch with my parents and my older brother ( who doesn't live in my town). In the afternoon, I met some friends, because we had to rehearse our dancing perfomance.

After dancing, we stayed outside, in the street talking and in the evening, at 8 o' clock I had drama class. It's really fun! Mostly because there you can find all king of clothes, so you can dress up as you want!

At night, I went to have dinner with people of the drama class, and we stayed out until it was late( that's why i couldn't write) hahah.

Thursday in Estonia

Evening folks.

Not all days are brothers. Not at all since today has been entirely different from yesterday. Although I find one bit of similarity. It's sleeping and there was a lot of it today. Aside from sleeping I took a short walk if I can call it that way and also grabbed a pizza in the evening. And wow was that a mouthful...I'm still trying to process it and I think the next time I'm hungry will be sometime next year. : D

Other than that I've been listening to music, watching TV shows and talking to friends. Looking at the thermometer I see degrees dropping below zero yet again which I'm kind of tired to see. Looking forward to warmer days and nights so there would be more to do outside.

See you soon and have fun until then! :)
Norman.
Hi again,

Today hasn’t been a bad day at all. It’s been great!
My first class today was gym ( I’m in the same class as Ainara ). Today we had climbing and  I love this sport... but then all my body hurt.
Later on, we had English class, with boring conditionals witch everyone already knows!! If i was... I would... hahaha!
At quarter to three in the afternoon, I left school as usual and I went home with a couple of friends. Then, at five o’ clock I met three friends at home. The thing is that we are going to do a dance performance in April, and we have to make a remix!
After having fun with them, at 8 o’ clock I had to English class(quite boring....)

Now, at night, I’ve been chatting with friends until i’ve remembed yhat I had to write here!

This is me with friends last year!( I'm the third one if you start from the left)

Hope you have a good day!

Borja.

hi !

Hi everybody again!

Today my day has been a bit boring...
I got up at seven in the morning as usual. The first class I had was gym.Today we've started
climbing.I like trying different sports,so I think it's a good idea to get climbing lessons for a time.

After a looooong morning,I've arrived at home at three in the afternoon more or less, and I've eaten with my parents today :) After having lunch,I've gone to my English lessons. After having them and doing all my
homework I've seen a basketball match on te TV with a friend, because Baskonia (the team of our city)
was playing at that very moment.

I hope you have enjoyed your day!

Ainara.

Hi everybody,

I'm Barkan. I'm 16 years old and I'm writing you from Eskişehir.

I'm going to talk about my yesterday.
Yesterday I can't get up in the morning so I get late for the service. I get school by my father's car. It was a horrible morning but luckily my afternoon wasn't like that. I usually get bored at school. Finally it's 3.05 pm school finished ! I get home at 3.45 pm that I changed my clothes and leave home for meet with my friends. Finally have fun. At 7.00 pm I get back to home for dinner. After dinner I played some video games and around 2.00 am I go to bed and slept. That's all for now. See you soon.
Bye.

A Wednesday

Hey~!

A Wednesday, a nice day to go to school (or not so nice) but ohwait..Here in Estonia we have our spring break from school and it's awesome. Finally getting out of bed at about half past 12 I find myself thinking what should I do. Since nothing special didn't come to mind I poured myself a cup of tea and sat behind the computer. Took care of last minute business related to the blog and read news.

After that I was in a hurry to go to the school library to get some chemistry books for an exam I have in June and also went to the pharmacist to pick up some medicine since I've been kind of sick for quite some time now. Then I came home and soon was asked to go to volleyball practice and decided to go, especially because I haven't done much sports much thanks to the sickness.

Later on one of my friends called if we are going to do something in the evening (or well night) which ended in a sit-down at another friend's place. Always happy to spend time with friends so overall the day was good if not very good and I'm hoping that the rest of free week from school will stay so as well and that others have a good week too. :p

Stay awesome,
Norman.

My day, Wednesday.

Hi,

Today it’s been an ordinary school-day, although I’ve got home earlier than usually. However, we’ve had some interesting moments in our class. The thing is that last Monday we did a Physics exam ( quite hard), so our teacher gaved the tests back today, to let us know the mark. Everyone was really anxious. When we knew the marks, some of us smiled, and other ones... L.

After leaving school, I had my weekly saxophone class. Today I had a surprise exam, AM I UNLUCKY!

Then, left the music school and when I had reached home, my wished relaxing time started. But I couldn’t spend much time on the sofa, because i had to do homework, wash the dishes....

But, finally, I’ve finished everything, so I can listen to music, or watch TV.

Hope your day is better than mine, hahah!
